This project - supported by IICD - responds to the strong need for new leaders in Ecuador and for spaces in which young talented people can interact about new leadership styles based on transparency and social participation. Two local youth councils (Consejos Locales Juveniles) were installed in the municipalities of Bahía de Caráquez, Sucre (Manabí province) and Puerto Ayora (Galápagos). These CLJs received training in ICT tools and organisational issues. Also, the project addresses specific local management issues and the application of the Law on Access to Public Information (LOTAIP). The use of ICTs in communication and information management is vital in bringing empowerment of these local youth groups about, notably through the set-up of public information corners installed at locations of easy access for local youth. Conspect Dive Event 2008

Conspect duikt er in ... Ook in 2008 is nagenoeg het gehele Conspect team weer afgereisd naar het duikparadijs Sharm el Sheikh, Egypte. Aangezien de meeste Conspect collegas veelal bij onze opdrachtgevers op locatie werken, is dit jaarlijks terugkerend evenement elke keer weer een goed moment om met de collegas te kunnen bijpraten. En passant wordt ook nog de prachtige onderwaterwereld verkend De dag voor ons vertrek probeerde de luchtvaartmaatschapp ij nog even roet in het eten te gooien door de terugvlucht met 17 uur te vervroegen. Met veel kunst en vliegwerk werd het zorgvuldig geplande programma hierop aangepast. En dus verzamelden we ons op dinsdag met een kleine 60 man/vrouw op Schiphol, alwaar we met de gehele groep de lunch nuttigden voordat we afreisden naar Egypte. Na s avonds te zijn ingecheckt in het Hilton hotel hebben we bij de duikschool Millennium Divers al onze duikapparatuur uitgezocht en gecontroleerd. Zo waren we goed voorbreid om op woensdag, donderdag en vrijdag optimaal en veilig te kunnen genieten van al het moois onder water in de Rode Zee. Dit jaar stond er tevens een nachtduik op het programma, wat voor velen weer een nieuwe unieke ervaring was. Hetzelfde gold voor de Deep Blue waarbij we op open zee een duik maakten op zoek naar Hamerhaaien die hier waren gespot. Helaas bleef het contact met deze haaien beperkt tot een tweetal schimmen in de diepte Bij de overige duiken (ongeveer 10) hebben we onder andere murenen, napoleonvissen, barracudas clownvissen, schildpadden en natuurlijk prachtig koraal gezien. Ook dit jaar hebben weer een aantal collegas hun Padi Open Water of Advanced behaald en dit in een recordtijd van 3 dagen, voor zowel theorie als praktijk. Dit uiteraard mede door de vakkundige begeleiding van de duikinstructeurs van Millennium Divers. Tijdens de avonden vermaakten we ons uiteraard ook goed in de bar van het hotel, rond het zwembad, al shoppend in Sharm of aan de pokertafel. Op de vrijdagavond hadden we nog een enorm feest in een voor Conspect gereserveerd restaurant. Buiten het heerlijke eten en drinken konden hier ook de voetjes van de vloer op de muziek van onze DJ., waarna menigeen de avond nog even voortzette in het nachtleven van Sharm el Sheikh. In de nacht van zaterdag op zondag werd de thuisreis weer aanvaard. De gelukzalige gezichten van al die slapende mensen in het vliegtuig gaf het algehele gevoel goed weer: "Dat het maar weer snel september 2009 mag zijn." Wil je dit ook eens mee maken?
