| Blowing up 1,000 mah single lithium cellThu, 08 Jan 2009 13:23:37 -0800 by calvnioOK, before you start making hate comments.... here is the scoop on the pack, it was used in a 3s pack which eventually had a cell rupture, i was able to save the 2 other cells, now i have 2 of the old cells doing absolutely nothing, the solder tabs are almost gone so making my own pack was out of the question. I sped up the borring part of atempting to get the pack to light since it was very borring to watch. The flames shot out of the battery about 3' showing just how dangerous they can be, it took me about 5 minutes of burning RC fuel on the battery to make it light. Hope you enjoy the show. With oil prices at record highs and increased attention on conserving the environment, businesses and communities are increasingly looking to landfill gas as a source for fuel.All landfill trash decomposes over time and releases methane, a greenhouse gas, into the air. At landfills across the county, new technology is being developed to capture that natural gas, treat it and send it where it can be used as fuel. At Three Rivers Landfill in South Carolina, landfill gas travels 17 miles through a pipeline to Kimberly Clark's Beech Island facility, where it helps to power the manufacturing plant.A growing number of companies like these are finding landfill gas to be a clean, reliable energy source that can be purchased at significantly lower costs than conventional natural gas. In addition, the environmental benefits of landfill gas are significant. According to the EPA, the reduction in greenhouse gases from this project alone is equivalent to removing 41,000 cars from the road or reducing oil consumption by more than 50,000 barrels a year. As car navigation devices get more affordable, an increasing number of drivers are buying vehicles with GPS. With more than five million subscribers in the U.S. and Canada, OnStar, the leading provider of in-vehicle safety, security and communication services is catering to its growing market. To help solidify their leadership in navigation, OnStar announced the introduction of two new navigational services to complement and enhance its existing service. The first, destination download, enables subscribers with screen-based navigation systems to press a button and connect with an advisor. The advisor finds the location, sends it to the system and an icon pops up and asks 'do you want to go now?' The driver presses the button, the route is calculated and they are on their way. The second service, a partnership with MapQuest.com called OnStar eNav, allows subscribers with a Turn-by-Turn Navigation-capable vehicle to find and save destinations on their computer and have them sent to their vehicle. The directions can then be accessed through voice-guided commands with a touch of a button. In the calendar year 2009, eNav will allow OnStar Destination Download capable vehicles to download destinations directly to the vehicle's screen-based navigation system.
