Planning a Themed Event
from: ...Tip! Corporate entertainment comes in many forms, for example outdoor activities such as sporting or travel. There are many clubs with multiple members from the same company and so on. Fitness, yachting, golf, tennis, rafting, you name it!
One idea that you might consider when planning a party is to choose a theme for the event. This can help to 'break the ice' early on in the event and can be a lot of fun. There are an infinite variety of themes to choose from, but you should bear in mind the nature of your guests when doing so. The theme chosen should not be one that any of your guests might find offensive or be uncomfortable with. There should also be scope within the theme for guests to take part without having to hire an expensive costume. It is much more enjoyable if guests are allowed the option of being able to use their imagination rather than being forced to rely on their wallet.
Whatever theme you choose for your event, you may be interested to know that there is a growing list of companies that can supply party packs and accessories to add to the enjoyment of your guests. Many of these companies and their products can be found on the internet and you might wish to take account of this when planning your event. These companies can provide themed decorations, tableware, novelties, music, games and other ideas related to your theme. Most of them will also supply themed costumes. As an event planner, you may order as little or as much as you wish. Even a few decorations can make a difference to the ambience of your themed party, so this option is well worth considering.
Tip! The knock-on effects of running a corporate event can have many benefits including financial gains, brand awareness, networking opportunities, media exposure and increased staff performance. Not every event is the same and different organisations will have different requirements from the event.
We mentioned earlier that there is a huge variety of themes to choose from for your event. Let us now consider some of the broad themed categories that event planners may choose from.
One type of theme is dependant on the time of year that your event is taking place. Halloween, Independence Day and Valentine's Day all provide examples of themes that are 'in the moment'. These topical themes are great fun because the nation in general is following these events and this seems to build up the excitement prior to the event itself.
Geographical themes are another idea. These themes can be based on a country or region. For example, a Scottish themed party or Hawaiian party. Guests could do some simple research about the area to get ideas. It is important that the event fosters respect for the cultures involved. Such a theme could have the added bonus of furthering knowledge of another culture and providing the opportunity to sample aspects of it, such of food and music.
Tip! Often families are allowed to bring their children and spouses to corporate events as well. In fact, more often than not they are encouraged to do so, because they know how important it is for working families to have time together.
Historical themes are also an option for your event. These would include popular contemporary history, such as the 1950s or 1960s. This type of theme is very popular, as it still evokes memories for many of us and also because the music and iconology are readily available. Historical themes can also include eras from the more distant past, such as Roman Toga parties. There are many other types of themes you could consider, far too many to mention in this article. Among these would be sporting themes, movie themes, themes based on book characters and so on.
As you can see, you have almost unlimited choice if you are planning a themed event. Themed events can be very enjoyable and make your guests bond more easily. As mentioned at the start of this article, however, it is important to choose a theme that guests will be comfortable with. Have fun!
Tip! Corporate entertainment also gives workers an opportunity to know members of their own unit or department more, and also allows interaction with members of other units or groups that is not always possible at work.
